Studio Photography

I took over the studio art direction/production back in 2019. In the early days I ran a small production in a studio space near our headquarters. As Stio grew so did the scale of our studio productions. We had to capture higher quantities of styles/colors, with shorter lead times, and do it cost-effectively.

I moved our production from the small 2-bay studio to a 60’x60’x16′ 3-bay stage for photography and a 45’x45’x16′ stage for video, allowing us to shoot photos and video on the same day using the same models. Finding this space, figuring out the production process, and hiring the right resources for styling/merchandising have led to positive marketing experiences for the customer.

Deliverables

I’ve taken this project from the small days of Stio to a large production with 25+ staff on set between models, stylists, photographers, merchandisers, post processes, and producers. I’m in charge of the entire project, from the planning, hiring/sourcing models, lighting, creative direction, merchandise approval on set, managing team dynamics, and the delivery of the final assets on time.

Flatlay Photography

I created visual guardrails, briefs, feedback channels to help support production launches since the launch of Stio in 2011 working with stylists and photographers to create flatlay product shots for use in print and digital.

In 2023 I brought the studio in-house, hired a marketing merchandiser as a stylist, and taught them about lighting, editing, studio setup, and styling techniques. I created styling & visual guardrails to maintain quality while allowing hire to develop their style and skill.
